River Talks (The Language of Water)

February 7 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Join the Cumberland River Compact at their upcoming River Talk!

We know rivers serve civilizations in vital ways, but this River Talk will explore a role for rivers you might not have considered: as inspiration for poets and writers. In this discussion, we’ll move away from the literal and towards the metaphorical. We’ll exchange scientific and historical language for the imaginative. We’ll read and explore poetry and discover how the rivers within us shape not just our relationship with the outer world but travel along our inner currents of faith, loss, hope, and desire. As we follow the oxbows and cutoffs, the wide curves and narrow straits of our own rushing dreams, we just might realize the river’s voice speaks for us all.

All River Talks are free and open to the public. You may reserve an optional lunch for $10 or bring your own.
